The First Pioneers
These are the first pioneers of the Squamish Bahá’í community. A pioneer is a volunteer Bahá’í who leaves his or her home to journey to another place for the purpose of teaching the Bahá’í Faith. Ruby and Phil moved to Squamish from West Vancouver in 1973 and nurtured a growing community of young souls, leading by their great example. They laid roots in this small town, and it is thanks to their steadfast and loving efforts that there is still a Bahá’í presence in Squamish today.
They went on to pioneer in other parts of the lower mainland including North Vancouver and Richmond, helping to establish the Faith and encourage new believers wherever they resided. We remember them with love and gratitude.
The most meritorious service, which anyone could render is to bring the light of divine guidance and the quickening power of the spirit to an entirely new area. – Shoghi Effendi
